ALTERNATIVE GIVING YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE…SAVING ONE LIFE AT A TIME. |

A BOND THAT NEVER BREAKS... You have spent your life loving and living
with companion animals. Because of your close relationship with them, you
understand their unique personalities and their undying affection. Your bonds with these intelligent,
delightful creatures give a depth and meaning to your life. To honor
those relationships, consider remembering the needs of other less fortunate
animals in your financial and will planning. There are numerous ways to help and your
Attorney or Financial Advisor can best assist you with your questions. Valley
River Humane Society is a 501c 3 Non-Profit Organization, est. 1969. |

VALLEY RIVER HUMANE SOCIETY MISSION The mission of the Valley River Humane
Society is to foster healthy relationships between humans and all living
creatures, to prevent animal cruelty and suffering, to find quality homes for
abandoned pets, and to educate people of all ages about animal needs and the
value of responsible pet ownership. WILLS & BEQUESTS When you name The Valley River Humane
Society (VRHS) in your will or living trust, you make an important gift that
saves animal lives. INCLUDE VRHS IN YOUR LIFE CELEBRATIONS This is an easy and fun way to show your VRHS support. Let us know about a special event in your life
(e.g. wedding, birthday, anniversary, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, retirement,
graduation, or holiday) for which you’ll be requesting donations be given to
VRHS in lieu of gifts to you. |

LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES When an insurance policy is no longer
needed to safeguard a family or business, it can benefit VRHS. You can designate VRHS as a beneficiary of
your policy, with all or part of the policy proceeds going to VRHS at time of
death. You can receive a charitable tax deduction
by naming VRHS as both the owner and beneficiary of a paid-up policy. By donating a policy on which you continue
to pay premiums, you can receive a charitable tax deduction for those
premiums each year. Additionally, you can assign your annual dividends to
VRHS or you can choose to obtain a new policy for the benefit of VRHS. The Animals, Staff, Volunteers, and Board
Members of Valley River Humane Society would like to thank your for your
support. |

LIFE INCOME GIFTS The charitable remainder trust is a
popular and proven option that allows you to irrevocably place money, stocks,
or property into a tax-exempt trust and receive income, generally for life. A trustee pays you either a fixed amount
or a percentage of the trust principal. You receive a charitable tax deduction for
the present value of assets placed in the trust, and at the end of a
specified number of years, VRHS receives the remainder of the trust. Many people don’t realize the amount of
money that may have accumulated in an IRA, 401(k), 403(b), retirement, or
pension account. Unfortunately, this can also be one of the
most costly assets to pass on to your heirs – with up to 80% being eaten up
by taxes. By naming VRHS as the beneficiary, you can avoid these taxes and
support our life-saving work. |

STOCKS , BONDS & SECURITIES If you’re looking for a way to help the
animals, while also achieving specific tax benefits, donating stocks, bonds,
and/or mutual funds might be right for you. Stocks that have appreciated in value can
be subject to capital gains tax when sold; however, by transferring your
appreciated shares of stock directly to VRHS (rather than selling them and
remitting the proceeds to VRHS), you can avoid all capital gains and
resulting taxes. Plus, the IRS allows you to claim, on your
itemized Federal income taxes, the full fair market value of the shares
(calculated as the average of the high and low prices on the day VRHS
receives the shares as a charitable gift). |
